Women That Inspire: My Journey As A Young Mom Turned Lash Entrepreneur

Speaking in London at the Lash Pro Conference was a highlight of my year. I met some incredibly inspiring women who hold the standard so high in our lash industry. I was honored to speak about the power of leading with love to many incredible lash artists. At one point, I asked how many women in the room were moms - About 75% of the room raised their hands.

As a young mom myself, having had my daughter Grace on my 19th birthday, I have always felt so much empathy and understanding for young, ambitious entrepreneurs. I love to watch women have it all. To create a beautiful life for themselves and their families while raising the next generation to believe they can do it all, too. I remember the fears when Grace was little, wondering if I could build a substantial life for us. As I look back to see that all of this was built by and with beautiful, brilliant, strong women by my side- it leaves me in tears to be lucky enough to be surrounded by so many deep, kind & generous WOMEN who have changed our little world and in turn- is allowing us to reach the world through the art of lashing.

This year, I visited London for the Lash Pro Conference. I pinched myself, speaking to hundreds about balancing lash businesses alongside parenting and taking care of oneself, and met inspiring lash entrepreneurs like Hannah Putjato, the founder of London Lash. “No business lasts without self-care,” she insisted. Hannah was right - health remains foundational. Her words renewed my commitment to uplift others while filling my own cup.

The table I was seated at at the conference was filled with inspiring women, lash industry giants! Mariola Miko, the queen of lash lifts, spoke enthusiastically about some new lifting techniques and did a fantastic in-person demo. Mimi @mimisstudiopro showcased client retention tips for growth. Sheun Ogundoyin @sobrows.london shared her story of transitioning from working in the corporate workforce to the beauty industry. She paved the way for so many women like her! Adeline Octavia @adheline_octavia_ from Indonesia discussed how salon design draws in visitors and encourages social coverage. Aisha, @aisha_lashess dove into TikTok, a crucial platform to help expand your reach and grow your lash business. Lastly, Angela, @angelash_khm spoke about popular styles and mapping. She echoed Tress Larson, sharing how ultra-fine diameters can be used for nearly any lash look. The conversations and speeches were informative and motivational.

I’m still learning from the London Lash Conference. I revisit my notes at home when I feel doubt creep in. Surrounded by fellow trailblazers, imposter syndrome fades. We belong together - experts, mentors, young moms - learning what’s possible.

LashBox LA empowered me to create something great despite the limitations. Raising Grace as a single mom alongside building my career wasn’t easy. But the women here taught me - we can have both family and fulfilling work grounded in self-love. I’m endlessly grateful for the mentors who pushed me toward my potential, never allowing early motherhood to limit me. And I hope my story inspires you - because I remember needing someone brave to tell me I could.
